Gelince Haber VerIt is a fact that in our age when everything is measured by matter, our children are growing up in a spiritual voids; therefore, Every Muslim needs to learn the tenets of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamā‘ah, the knowledge pertaining to amal (deeds), morals and mu‘āmalāt (conducts) like trading. These are called “Ilm al-Hāl”. It is fard al-ayn (compulsory) upon every believer to learn them. A Muslim man should teach their children and spouse the Ilm al-Hāl and safeguard them from all acts that contradict Islam.
Our Nabi Muhammad Mustafa (sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Acquiring knowledge (of “Ilm al-Hāl) is fard (compulsory) upon every Muslim male and female.” It is fard to teach children the faith of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamā‘ah, how to recite the Qur’ān al-Karīm, enough knowledge to act upon the compulsory deeds and avoid the haram acts, which they are liable to fulfil, and the knowledge about ibādahs such as wudū, salāh, fasting and hajj. With this little work in your hands, you will feel that your responsibility is relieved, even if partially.
This Shāfi‘ī ‘Ilm al-Hāl book consists of chapters on salāh, zakāh, fasting and hajj compiled from the book titled “Ghāyah al-Ikhtisār” by Qādī Abū Shujā‘ (raḥmatullāhi ‘alayhi) (d: 593 AH -1196 CE), a reliable and renowned source of the Shāfi‘ī Madhhab. The information on aqā’id (creed) was compiled from the booklet titled ‘’Aqīdah alĪmān’’ by Ibrahim Hakki Erzurumī (quddisa sirruhu).Success comes from Allāh Ta‘ālā.
